Meet Andrew Blizard
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York who works with adolescents and adults. I have a specialty of working with substance use disorders; seeing clients in active addiction, early sobriety, maintenance recovery, as well as family members of those who are in recovery.I also work with clients who are working through trauma recovery, anxiety disorders and OCD, depression, adjustments to life circumstances, and a variety of other clinical concerns.I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing and open dialogue therapy. My approach to treatment planning is driven by collaborating with my client to develop a personalized approach to recovery informed by the client’s own culture, identity, and beliefs. Therapy with me will focus on developing personal insight, strengthening coping skills, and introducing meaningful behavioral change.I have a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from State University of New York at New Paltz. Over the course of my career, I have worked in college counseling centers, hospitals, outpatient clinics, and in-home settings throughout New York City, Westchester, and the Hudson Valley.
